Scholars of Biblical and Related Literature is an unincorporated group of former SBL-SW members that exists to organize and run sessions at the annual meeting of the Southwest Commission on Religious Studies.
Use this form to submit proposals for the SWCRS meeting to be held March 5–7, 2027.
Further details, and the full text of this year's call for papers, can be found at swcrs-online.org. The deadline for all proposals is Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Please direct questions to the SBRL coordinator, Joseph McDonald (j.mcdonald@tcu.edu), or to the relevant program unit co-chairs noted in the call.
The theme of this year's meeting is "What texts do: functions, activities, and impacts of biblical and related literature in the real world." While we encourage proposals that creatively engage this theme, other proposals remain most welcome.
Items to note:
- Due to high costs, the conference cannot provide AV equipment, but presenters are welcome to bring their own.
- Presenters are limited to two total appearances on the program across all SWCRS participating societies (this does not apply to presiding). Reading the same or substantially identical paper in more than one session at the conference is not welcome. Please note below if you are submitting the same proposal to AAR-SW or ASSR.
- We meet in person and do not have a virtual component to our meeting. All individuals on the program must be registered to participate.
