2024 Sustainable Landcare Training (SLC) interest form
UPDATE: Trainings for 2024 are FULL. If you would like to be contacted when registration opens for summer 2025 Sustainable Landcare trainings, fill out this form and we'll reach out to you in spring 2025.

Overview: In the next few years, hundreds of rain gardens and other green infrastructure projects will be installed all over Minneapolis to clean our water and create habitat. These plantings will need to be cared for and inspected, and we are training young adults (ages 17-25) from Minneapolis to do exactly that!  Participants will learn about stormwater, rain garden maintenance, native plant and weed ID, and inspections & reporting. They will also learn job skills to prepare them for their future career endeavors!

Young adults who complete the SLC may be eligible for additional paid training and work opportunities to build on their skills in summer/fall 2024.

Payment: Each participant will be paid $20/hour for their time, which means they can earn up to $560! (10 hours of at-home online training and three in-person sessions,  each 6 hours long)

Schedule: This summer we will have three separate SLC trainings:  two in north Minneapolis and one in south Minneapolis. All of these training days will start at 10am and end at 4pm:
  • Training 1: (May 21st, June 4th, June 18th) @ Regional Apprenticeship Training Center (1200 Plymouth Avenue N, Minneapolis MN 55411)
  • Training 2: (June 26th, July 10th, July 24th) @ Sabathani Community Center (310 East 38th St. Suite 120, Minneapolis MN 55409)
  • Training 3: (August 1st, August 15th, August 29th) @ Regional Apprenticeship Training Center (1200 Plymouth Avenue N, Minneapolis MN 55441)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:  To participate in the SLC you must be a resident of Minneapolis. Because this is a career-readiness opportunity, this training is primarily available for young adults (ages 17-25).

Each training is limited to 20 paid participants, so filling out this form does not guarantee you a spot. It does, however, let us know of your interest in the program. You will receive a follow-up email from Becca Krasky (becca@metroblooms.org) with registration availability and additional training details once the training is closer. If you have questions, concerns, or need anything else, we encourage you to email Becca directly.
