The Broken Crayons Still Color Project is a FREE eight-week mental health program created in 2017 by Phyllis Y. Clark, the Founder and CEO of Healthy Heritage. The course focuses on mental health knowledge and mental illness prevention, early detection, and intervention (PEI). The program is designed for African American women in Riverside and San Bernardino county's faith-based community who are interested in developing mental health self-awareness, and learning effective strategies to cope with and identify signs of the four major mental health strains: depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and substance use disorder. Our goal with this program is to inspire church leaders and parishioners to remove the stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness, whether that be talking about it or seeking out services and treatment.
