The South of 6th Sustainable Neighborhood and the Mid-Lakewood Civic Association are interested in transforming the Balsam Pond park (located on the south side of 1st Ave at Balsam St) into a xeriscaped multi-use park with a focus on native plants and pollinators. This new park will be designed with sustainability in mind, reducing water use and promoting local biodiversity. While the city of Lakewood is supportive of our improvement plan, they do not have capacity or funds for ongoing maintenance (including watering new plantings), so we will be relying on volunteer efforts to make this a reality! Your participation in this survey can help us secure grant funding by showing that Balsam Pond is important to our neighborhoods!
