Instead of "frictionless technology" that creates friction that limits users' choice and agency, what if we could design specific kinds of friction back in, in order to enable slowing down, self-reflection, conflict resolution, open collaboration, learning, and care?
Our theory-of-change is that constructive frictions empower people through improved AI literacy, transparency, and choice over how algorithms impact nearly every aspect of our experience.
We want to co-create a living archive of design fiction artifacts that enable meaningful forms of participation and engagement in human-centered generative AI products, evaluation methods, and governance mechanisms.
