What will my Proficiency Training cost?
COURSE DESCRIPTION AND COST
⃝ Legal (only) R 500.00
⃝ Legal and any one of the following: R 1,250.00
1. Handle and use Handgun.
2. Handle and use Shotgun.
3. Handle and use Self loading Rifle or Carbine.
4. Handle and use Manually Operated Rifle or Carbine.
⃝ Single Unit Standards (Should you already have Legal) R 900.00 each.
1. Handle and use Handgun.

3. Handle and use Self loading Rifle or Carbine.
4. Handle and use Manually Operated Rifle or Carbine.
⃝ Combination Manual R 3,000.00 all inclusive
Includes all of the Unit Standards listed above (including Legal) in one manual.

All prices include training on the day you attend the course as well as firearms and ammunition used for the Qualification shoot.

What does the process involve?
• You would need to purchase the manuals that correspond with the Unit Standards you require form Spartan Arms. (Shop L6, Stoneridge Centre, Hereford Road, Greenstone Park, Edenvale.) Please note that if you do not have a current Competency Certificate you will be required to do Legal (Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act, 2000) Act No 60 of 2000.
• You have three months from the date of purchase to complete the process.
• Open Book (Formative) exams, must be completed in BLACK pen. Please find answers in the book, do not make them up!
• Once you have completed the open book exam make time to study the open book material, as you will find many of the questions repeated in the Closed Book (Summative) exams.
• When you are ready, go to the Spartan Arms Website and open Proficiency Training and select the date you would like to attend the course. Please note, you have three months from the date of purchase to complete the process.
What can I expect on the day?
• Pre-Assessment Meeting.
• Completing of documentation.
• Revision of outcome based training.
• Practical training and Observation check list.
• Summative (closed book) exams.
• Qualification Shoot.
• Set the day aside (not just an hour).

Should you be successful in all of the above, you will be able to collect your SOR (Statement of Results) and Certificate within 7 - 10 days.

Then:
• Get certified copies of both your SOR and Certificate.
• Complete a SAPS 517 and hand in to your DFO along with any other documentation they may require).
• Once you receive your Competency Certificate from SAPS, you can apply for your firearm license.
