WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF LIFE PROGRAMME?
The Quality of Life Programme is a Cornerstone Foundation initiative to ensure all those receiving our support (irrespective of age, location or support package) have access to funds to pay for activities or items they need to fulfill their personal goals and enjoy a valued life.
WHAT HAPPENED TO SERVICE FUNDRAISING? - If we raise money for something for our own service, we’d like to keep it there.
Any money raised by a service or donated to them for a specific purpose, will still be kept for sole use by that service. It’s just the name that’s changed.
WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF LIFE PROGRAMME?
Quality of Life is the name for the whole programme, through which all services can access the following:
• Service Fundraising - funds raised or donated to that service
• Their Branch's Quality of Life funds - money which has been donated to the overall branch and not specified for a particular purpose.
• Money raised by The Cornerstone Foundation or donated to the organisation, which will then be divided proportionately for each branch area dependent on the number of people supported there.
WHO CAN APPLY TO THE QUALITY OF LIFE PROGRAMME?
• Any member of staff can apply for funding on behalf of a person/people we support directly, so long as there are available funds
• Any person supported by Cornerstone qualifies for this programme regardless of the level or amount of support they receive as long as they have no means themselves or alternative options to access funding.
WHAT CAN THE MONEY BE USED FOR?
The money can be used to buy items or to pay for activities that will benefit the quality of life of the people we support and that relates to their agreed personal goals as per Cornerstone’s My Goals document or equivalent.
WHAT CAN’T I APPLY FOR?
Money cannot be applied for:
• People outwith our support
• Things that relate to core service provision (e.g. staff equipment)
• Things that people are able to access funding by themselves.
- FOR EXAMPLE - What can be applied for:
• Tickets to go to a football match
• A contribution to a much needed holiday/break (no more than £200)
• Battery pack for a wheelchair
• Day out at the seaside
• Specialist blanket to improve a child’s sleep pattern
• Trip to the cinema
- FOR EXAMPLE - What can't be applied for:
• ipad for staff to use
• Staff sleepover bed
• Activities for someone who is not receiving Cornerstone support
• Staff mobile phone
• Team building day out
• Staff training
• Staff costs

WHAT IS THE FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE?
The Fundraising Committee is a group of staff from various areas of the organisation who have an interest in, and support, our organisational fundraising activities. The group meets once a month between Aberdeen, Glasgow and Dundee. If you’d like to be part of this Committee (participants can attend by telephone), please contact
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE UNTIL I GET MY MONEY?
If you funds are coming from your Service Fundraising pot, you will receive this within 7 working days of us receiving your application. If the funds are coming from the Quality of Life Fund, we will, transfer the money to you within 7 working days of the next Fundraising Committee Meeting.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY APPLICATION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL?
The Cornerstone Foundation has access to an array of funding options for individuals. If time and circumstances allow, a representative from TCF will work with the applicant to develop an application to relevant trusts and organisations. This will allow TCF to make the most of the Quality of Life Programme’s limited funds.
HOW DO I KNOW IF THERE IS AVAILABLE MONEY?
If you’d like to check if there is money available before you apply, please check with your Branch Leader or Service Manager or contact the Foundation Team on
to request the information.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM?
The money is collected from general fundraising activities that staff and supporters have undertaken specifically for us, donations made or successful grants awarded to Cornerstone.
We would like to offer support and encouragement to all services to undertake some form of fundraising. Please feel free to get in touch if you need some help with this. A good place to start is by having a discussion at your team meetings.
WHY SHOULD I FUNDRAISE?
The Quality of Life programme is there to meet the needs of the people you support when they need it. The programme aims to be fast responding and focussed on making the lives of the people we support a little better if we can. By having funding available in each branch area, this allows our support to reach a much wider group of people and ensures that everyone we support has the same access to the things they need to enjoy a valued life.
The amount of applications and where they come from will be monitored by the Fundraising Committee, as will service and branch area fundraising activity. However, please be assured that support and advice is always on hand for you to get started with fundraising!
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T SPEND ALL OF THE MONEY OR ACTIVITY PLANS CHANGE?
We know that plans and budgets can change and if this should be the case, please contact out Team Co-ordinator, Konstantina Gkekovits on 01224 256030 or email
and tell us about the changes to enable us to update our records.
WHO CAN I CONTACT IF I NEED TO ASK FOR FURTHER INFORMATION?
Please contact out Team Co-ordinator, Konstantina Gkekovits, on 01224 256030 or email
HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT’S BEING SPENT IN EACH BRANCH AREA OR WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING TO FUNDRAISE?
Look out for your regular fundraising updates in our e-updates, ‘Foundation Friday’ and ‘Your Foundation’. Both of these will include stories and news from across each branch area.
WHY DO WE HAVE TO REQUEST MONEY IF WE HAVE FUNDRAISED FOR IT?
The forms have to be completed for quality and audit purposes and to ensure we are adhering to fundraising standards. So don’t worry, if the money has been raised for a specific purpose then your application will be processed smoothly.
WHAT FEEDBACK WILL I HAVE TO PROVIDE?
A simple template will be passed to the person who makes the application. This should be completed after you spend the money. We ask that you complete this within one month and get it back to us.
All you have to provide is information on what you have spent the money, the difference it made to the people’s/person’s life, and a couple of photos if you have them and the person’s permission to share them. Normal procedures will apply in relation to the recording of money spent and return of receipts.
