What is Lolita Fashion
Lolita fashion is a fashion subculture originating in Japan that is based on clothing from the Victorian-era and the Rococo period, but the style has expanded greatly beyond these two. The Lolita look began primarily as one of modesty with a focus on quality in both material and manufacture of garments. The original silhouette is of a knee length skirt or dress with a 'cupcake' shape assisted by petticoats, but has expanded into various types of garments including corsets and floor lengths skirts. Blouses, knee high socks or stockings and headdresses are also worn. Together, this outfit is known as a co-ord as all the pieces are coordinated together to achieve the look. Lolita fashion has evolved into several different sub styles and has a subculture that is present in many parts of the world. The style spread from its origins in the Kansai region, and ultimately reached Tokyo where it became popularised throughout Japanese youth culture. Today, Lolita fashion has gained global popularity and even has a community here in Adelaide.

General Competition
Lolita fashion in any style is accepted. A handmade entry is acceptable in the General Parade but will not be judged on being handmade just overall look of the co-ord.
For a guide on what makes an outfit Lolita, South Australia's Lolita group, Adelaide EGL Community, recommends The Anatomy of Lolita by The Lolita Handbook. You can find it here: https://lolita-handbook.livejournal.com/3180.html
Handmade Competition
Judged based on look, technical merit, and style during marshalling. Must meet the requirements of a coordinate as per the General Competition.
Each person provides a short blurb about the style and dress they are doing for scripting by the 3rd of June. Your dress does not need to be finished then.

Outfits must still fall into the category of Lolita.
This is a good way to get involved if you are new or uncomfortable in competitive situations.
There are no prizes awarded in this section.

Once your application has been processed and accepted you will be sent a confirmation email with your entry number.
