Welcome to the Memorial School PTO Parent Volunteer Form! The Memorial PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting a strong, positive relationship between parents, teachers, students, and the greater community for the enrichment of the Memorial School. It is a great way to get involved in the school, meet new parents, and stay informed! Please complete this form and select the volunteer opportunities of interest to you. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Below is a list of the parent volunteer opportunities available throughout the year at Memorial School. For most of these opportunities, you will be contacted in September/October with additional information.
Winter Carnival Positions
The Winter Carnival is the most important fundraiser of the year. THIS SINGLE FUNDRAISER BROUGHT IN NEARLY $40,000 IN ONE DAY! BE A PART OF IT!

These committee positions really make a difference!

All parents will have the opportunity to volunteer at their child's classroom booth on the day of the carnival. We are also looking for additional volunteers to serve on planning committees. The Winter Carnival will be held at Memorial School on Saturday, March 10, 2018.

Additional Positions
Read Across America Week Committee *
Volunteers will help organize a literacy focused, week-long event and recruit members of the community to be visiting readers in the classrooms. Read Across America Week is in the Spring.
Helping Hands Committee *
Members will be asked to lend a hand on a variety of projects, such as compiling handouts for parent meetings, decorating for school events, and assisting with small fundraisers. Throughout the year, there are typically 2-3 opportunities available, for which you may choose at the time to volunteer or not.
Kindergarten T-Shirt Sales Fundraiser *
Volunteers will be responsible for coordinating the sales and delivery of the commemorative 'Class of XX' t-shirts. This sale is held in the spring each year.
Required
Laminating Committee *
Volunteers will be responsible for assisting with laminating projects at Memorial School throughout the year. The time commitment is approximately 1/2 hour each month.
Literacy Night Committee *
Volunteers will help with the coordination of this one-night event and will be responsible for tasks such as securing the book fair vendor, reserving appropriate space at Memorial (or other) for the event, advertising in the Thursday packet, ordering/shopping for all supplies for the ice cream/cookie social, coordinating volunteers and entertainment for the event (storytelling), and advanced ticket sales for the ice cream/cookies. The Literacy Night is typically in April or May, so planning usually starts in February. Each year it rotates to a different school.
Required
School Supply Fundraiser *
The School Supply Fundraiser sells school kits for incoming students. Committee members will help distribute supplies to the classrooms in mid to late August.
Library Volunteers *
The Memorial Library need volunteers. The Library needs help shelving books, straightening shelves, and checking out books. Because there is some training involved, they ask for a commitment for the school year, which is 45 minutes per visit, for once or twice per month. Volunteers can come during their child's Library class. We limit the number of volunteers to a maximum of 4 per class, and it will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Volunteers will be contacted by in the Fall.
General PTO Volunteer *
Throughout the year, the PTO may need additional assistance with projects, fundraisers, or general volunteering.
