LGBTQIA+ Community Engagement and Outreach Committee Application
The LGBTQIA+ Community Engagement and Outreach Committee is a group of GVSU students who collaborate with community partners to organize outreach events and provide support to host an LGBTQIA+ Youth Summit at GVSU on Friday, March 6 during spring break in 2020 (more details below). Committee members will have an opportunity to work with regional LGBTQIA+ youth organizations through high school Gay-Straight and Gender & Sexuality Alliances (GSAs) in addition to supporting the summit. Students must be available to commit approximately 30-40 hours to the committee between November 2019 through March 2020.

The summit will take place on Friday, March 6th, 2020, welcoming over 300 LGBTQIA+ middle and high school students and their advisors to GVSU. The goal of the Summit is to create an opportunity for networking and increasing the skill, knowledge development, and capacity of GSAs throughout the state of Michigan.

Estimated time commitment (the timeline may vary depending on committee member schedules):
(2) 1.5 hour meetings in November and December
(3) 1.5 hour meetings in January
(3) 1.5 hour meetings in February
(2) 1.5 hour meetings in March
(4) 2 hour engagement/outreach events February and March
Additional planning hours on your own time may be needed.

Committee members will receive a $400 stipend for their participation.
