Tutor Interest Form
The Student Success Center hires tutors throughout the semester based on student demand.
If there is no current need for the subject you want to tutor, you are still encouraged to fill out
an Employment Interest Form. There may be a need for your subject later in the semester.
Due to the large number of applications received, applicants will only be contacted if an
interview is warranted. In addition, you must also complete the online district application. You
must complete the district application prior to an interview being scheduled. Please use the
following link to the district application/employment pool for tutors:
Full-time students (12 units and above)
Non-students and students who are enrolled under 12 units
The minimum qualifications to be a tutor include:
• 3.0 GPA
• B or A grade in classes to be tutored
• Recommendation from instructor for each subject area
• Copy of transcripts (unofficial)
• Minimum 10 hours per week commitment
• Excellent communication skills/Ability to explain concepts
• Friendly, patient, dependable with strong work ethic
• Organized and able to complete tasks on time
New tutors must enroll in Tut 090N & Tut 091N (Tutor Training) during their first semester as a
tutor. Students who pass both classes will receive a Certificate of Completion in Tutoring
Skills and Strategies. The class may be waived for applicants with advanced degrees and
experience at the discretion of the SSC Coordinator.
