YANovCon Teen Short Story Contest (ends 1/14/18)
Enter our Teen Short Story Contest for YANovCon (Young Adult Novelist Convention, 1/27/18 at Carlmont High School) and you could win a one-on-one lunch and feedback with a published YA author. This year we're asking you to create a short story that shines light on our theme of social justice and inclusion.

Submit a short story that goes with our theme. Stories can be realistic fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, dystopian, or whatever you come up with. Consider researching about a social justice or exclusion issue to incorporate in your story. What is your understanding of that issue? This contest is only open to 6-12th graders. If you are under 13, please ask an adult to fill in this form for you.

Short Story Guidelines:
- Submit your own original work of 500 words or less
- One story per person
- If you submit more than one story, you will be disqualified.
- All submissions are due by January 14th

*By entering your story, you give us permission to display and publish your story online, print, and in San Mateo County Libraries and Peninsula Library System locations.*

Winners will be contacted on Friday, January 26, 2018 to arrange their lunch with the authors. Lunch will be on Saturday, January 27, 2018 before the panels start.

The winners may also have the option to read their stories at YANovCon . Ask for an information pamphlet at your local library for more details on the prize package.
