The Research Triangle High School (RTHS) Board of Directors works in collaboration with School Leadership on short to long term strategy, finance, fundraising, partnerships, policy, and governance. The RTHS Board is made up of 5 Committees: Finance (budgets, contracts, banking, etc.), Academic Excellence (academic KPIs), Governance (member recruitment and policy), Development (fundraising, event planning, and partnerships), and CSO Evaluation (annual support & evaluation of school CSO). Other committees can be created as a need arises. RTHS Board members are expected to share their time and talents, participate in board committees, and act in ways that contribute to the effective operation of the Board of Directors focusing on what is good for the school.
Requirements and/or Board Composition:
- A commitment of 4 years is required with an option to renew for an additional 4-year term
- A maximum of 3 members or 25% of total members of the Board of Directors, whichever is less, can be parents of students attending RTHS
- The majority of Directors must be residents of the State of North Carolina
- Directors have a fiduciary relation to the school and work from a position of good faith
- Directors do not receive any compensation for their services
- The RTHS Board of Directors strives to have a diverse composition of members in areas not limited to expertise, experience, educational background, and demographics (age, gender, race, ethnicity, etc.)
