Reference Form for The Laurel Historical Society James B. McCeney Scholarship
In honor of the deeply respected and long-time Laurel Historical Society Chairman, President, and Treasurer
 James "Jim" McCeney, the Laurel Historical Society is proud to offer the James McCeney Scholarship to encourage members of Laurel's younger generations.

Goal
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support ($1000) to a Laurel area high school senior 
who wishes to pursue any degree that incorporates ANY historical, political, and/or ecological issues that build better communities. We are looking for students who have developed skills that demonstrate an inquisitive nature and an interest in how the past impacts the present world and conditions in which we live in our community.
 
Deadline
The completed application form and reference must be submitted by June 30, 2023.  
 
Section Process and Notification
Applications will be reviewed by a committee of the Laurel Historical Society including the Executive Director and members of the board of directors.
 
The McCeney Scholarship recipients will be notified by email no later than August 4, 2023 and must confirm their acceptance by August 18, 2023. Following the recipients’ confirmations, all other applicants will be notified by email.  Scholarships will be distributed via check.
