Lutheran Center Spring Symposium: Luther’s Legacy of Anti-Judaism and Contemporary Jewish-Lutheran Relations
In 1543, Martin Luther published “On the Jews and Their Lies,” an anti-Jewish diatribe filled with hateful and violent language towards Jewish people. As a college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and “nourished by the Lutheran tradition,” it is important that St. Olaf names Luther’s anti-Judaism and participates in repairing his legacy of harm against Jewish people. Featuring presenters Rabbi Dr. Ryan Dulkin, Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion at St. Olaf, and Kathryn Lohre ‘99, Executive for Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Relations & Theological Discernment for the ELCA, this Symposium will address the impacts of Luther’s anti-Judaism and explore contemporary Jewish-Lutheran relations.

The Spring Symposium is Tuesday, March 8 from 11:45 a.m.–1 p.m. in Viking Theater. The event is free and open to the public. Those who attend the Symposium in person will be able to pick up a to-go lunch after the event. The Symposium will also be live-streamed at this link: https://www.stolaf.edu/multimedia/play/?e=3790
