Pledge to Act in 2023 on Climate Emergency.
I recognize the emergency situation we face with climate change and the need to immediately reduce my fossil fuel use to preserve a safe climate. I also recognize that fossil fuel burning creates significant health damage at home and in the region, and is particularly damaging to low income and other vulnerable communities.

I commit to be a climate solutions leader and will:
- Focus on cutting my own fossil fuel use and air pollution caused by driving gas powered cars, home heating with gas or oil, lawn care, and gas cooking by 50% in 2023. I recognize there are good electric options, energy efficiency strategies, and alternative transportation options to reach this goal.
- Participate in NHCM public advocacy events and support policy change through emails and calling to support the city administration creating a plan to rapidly reduce fossil fuel and air pollution as rapidly as possible.
- Engage my organization and/or place of work in responding to the climate emergency and reducing fossil fuel and air pollution by 50% in 2023.
- Reduce my carbon emissions and air pollution, such as avoiding shopping fast fashion and eating less meat products, especially beef, if I have the resources to do so.

With the actions of a broad community, these actions will support systemic change at different levels: Resisting, Reforming, Reimagining, and Recreating.   They will help significantly increase momentum in New Haven towards improving local public health, addressing environmental injustice, and creating a safe climate future.

Note: NHCM is working to initially recruit 1000 individuals and 30 organizations to take the lead on moving the New Haven area community towards a healthier future and significant action in 2023. We will be following up with Pledge signers and offering support, a FB group, and other resources to accomplish the goals.
