"The Revolution Will Not Be Funded!" Study Session Signup
The Political Education Committee of the Southern Maine Workers' Center presents a one-time study session about the non-profit industrial complex, or the "NPIC!"  The NPIC is "an unseen web of money and power that tries to undermine people's struggles for racial, class, economic, gender and environmental justice." As organizers working for justice within and outside of nonprofits, we must closely understand the pitfalls of the NPIC in order to avoid them.

The Study Session will be based on an essay from "The Revolution Will Not Be Funded," an insightful collection of essays by organizers working within and beyond nonprofits that was originally published in 2007. We will be reading the essay: "Between Radical Theory and Community Praxis: Reflections on Organizing and the Non-Profit Industrial Complex" by Amara H. Pérez, Sisters in Action for Power. The essay is 9 pages long and will be sent via email PDF to all participants.

The session will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, March 2nd from 5:30-7pm.
