GALA Student/Guardian Technology Contract

Purpose:
To ensure a safe, productive, and responsible use of technology, we require all students and guardians to understand and agree to the following guidelines. This contract outlines expectations and responsibilities regarding the use of school-provided technology and personal devices used within the school environment.

Student Agreement:

1. Respectful Use:

• I will use all technology resources (including devices, networks, and software) provided by the school respectfully and responsibly.

• I will not use technology to harm others or disrupt the learning environment.

2. Internet Safety:

• I will not share my personal information or the personal information of others online.

• I will immediately report any inappropriate or uncomfortable online content or communication to a teacher or guardian.

3. Academic Integrity:

• I will not plagiarize or copy the work of others and will give proper credit when using online resources for my schoolwork.

• I will not use technology to cheat on assignments or exams.

4. Device Care:

• I will take good care of my school-issued device and report any damages or issues to the school's IT department immediately.

• I will follow all guidelines for maintaining and handling my device to ensure its longevity and functionality.

5. Responsible Use:

• I will only use technology during designated times and for educational purposes as directed by my teachers.

• I will not download or install unauthorized software or applications on school devices.

Guardian Agreement:

1. Monitoring and Support:

• I will monitor my child's use of technology at home to ensure they are following the school's guidelines.

• I will provide support and guidance to help my child understand the importance of responsible technology use.

2. Communication:

• I will maintain open communication with my child regarding their online activities and encourage them to speak up about any issues they encounter.

• I will report any concerns about my child's technology use to the school promptly.

3. Reinforcement of Rules:

• I will reinforce the school's rules and guidelines for technology use at home.

• I will help my child understand the consequences of violating these rules.

4. Device Care:

• I will ensure my child understands the importance of taking care of their school-issued device and will support the school in addressing any damages or issues.

Consequences for Violation:

Violations of this contract may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:

• Temporary or permanent loss of technology privileges

• Disciplinary meetings with school administration

• Notification of guardians and potential further actions

• Repair or replacement costs for damaged devices
