Fines and Fees in Wisconsin’s Juvenile Justice System

The Wisconsin Debt Free Justice Coalition is a group of organizations working to change the system that makes young people or their families pay fines and fees when youth are involved in the juvenile legal system. 

For purposes of this survey, “youth” refers to children or young adults ages 24 or younger.

We invite youth and their families to complete this 15 question survey which will help us advocate for the elimination of youth justice fines and fees.

  • To honor the time and experiences, you can enter to receive a $50 Visa gift card by sharing an email at the beginning of the survey. 
  • After you finish, we also invite you to participate in a short interview to share more about the experiences. Additional compensation is available for those who complete an interview.

Justice system language can be hard to understand even for those who have been working on these issues for years. If you are not familiar with some of the language in this survey - it is okay to say you don’t know.

Privacy statement: We will not share the name or any personal details without your permission. the name, phone number, and email will only be used by coalition members to follow-up with you. We may share responses (without the contact information) with public defenders, legislators, system stakeholders, or the public to further advocacy efforts.
