The Coastal Naturalist Training is an 8-week California Naturalist Certification Course taking place from September 4 to October 23, 2024. Lecture sessions will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center in Manila, and field sessions will typically take place on Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at various coastal locations around the Humboldt Bay. A syllabus and detailed schedule will be emailed to particpants upon registration. To register, please fill out this form and submit a payment (full or partial) or a scholarship application. Details about course fees, payments, and scholarships are available on our website.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

We reserve the right to cancel or modify any activity due to inclement weather, insufficient participation, or other conditions beyond our control. In the event that Friends of the Dunes cancels the program, all fees collected are fully refundable. Should any participant cancel at least one week before the beginning of the course, a refund will be issued minus a $25 administrative fee. If the participant withdraws before the second class meeting, a 50% refund will be issued. No refunds will be issued after the second class meeting.
