BESD#53 Straw Bale Garden Application
BESD#53, the Bourbonnais Public Library, and Holly Froning, Master Gardener from the University of Illinois Extension Office have partnered to develop Bourbonnais' first Straw Bale Community Garden. The vacant lot West of the Bourbonnais Library is owned by the school district and will be the sight of the garden. BESD#53 will be growing vegetables to donate to the local homeless shelter and food pantries. We are inviting you to participate in the community garden to grow vegetables for your family! Space is limited. To participate, you must attend a workshop at the Library April 5th 7-8:30pm or April 11th 1-2:30pm. Bales are $2.50 each if you bring your own plants, or $5 and U of I Extension will provide three plants per bale (tomato, peppers, etc.). Sign up below to participate. Planting begins May 13th. Water will be available onsite.
