šŸŽ™ļø Audiobook Proofing Services

Thank you for your interest in working together!

I'm so excited you're here and I'd love the opportunity to help you polish your audiobook before it reaches listeners.

Creating an audiobook is a significant investment of time, money and creativity. My goal is to help you catch the small issues that are easy to miss during production so your listeners can stay immersed in your story instead of being distracted by avoidable errors.Ā

Whether you're an indie author, narrator, rights holder or production team, I approach every project with the same level of care, attention to detail and respect for your work.

šŸŽ§ MY PROOFING PROCESSĀ Ā

Every audiobook is proofed personally by me from beginning to end.

I listen to the audiobook while following along with the manuscript line by line, carefully comparing the narration to the source text. I'm not simply listening for obvious mistakes. Throughout the entire recording, I'm actively checking every spoken word against the manuscript while also paying attention to continuity, pronunciation, consistency and the overall listener experience.

As I proof, I carefully document every issue I find so pickups and corrections are as straightforward as possible for you, your narrator and your production team.

Each finding includes:
  • Chapter
  • Manuscript page number
  • Audio timestamp
  • Narrator's name
  • Original text (optional)
  • Spoken text (when applicable)
  • Observation or recommended correction

For projects with multiple narrators, every finding is also color-coded by narrator, making it easy to quickly identify who is responsible for each pickup.

Depending on your preferences, I may flag things such as:

  • Misreads or incorrect words
  • Skipped, repeated or substituted words, sentences or paragraphs
  • Pronunciation issues and inconsistencies
  • Missing dialogue or narration
  • Character voice or continuity inconsistencies
  • Incorrect dialogue attribution
  • Audio glitches or distracting background noises
  • Editing issues, repeated takes or awkward cuts
  • Long pauses or pacing concerns
  • Formatting issues that affect narration
  • And other issues that may impact the overall quality and listener experience

Every report is organized clearly and professionally to make reviewing pickups and corrections as efficient as possible.Ā

Reports can be delivered in your preferred format, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft Word (.docx) or Microsoft Excel (.xlsx).Ā

If you provide the manuscript as a Google Doc or PDF at the same time as your audio files, I'm also happy to highlight the flagged issues directly within the manuscript to make the correction process even easier.

šŸ“ BEFORE WE BEGIN

Every production team has a slightly different workflow, and not every difference from the manuscript is necessarily an error.

Whether your audiobook has already been completed or is still in production, the questions below will help me understand your project and tailor my proofing process to your team's preferences.

If there are any intentional changes made during production, please let me know so I don't flag them unnecessarily. This might include things such as:

  • Dialogue tags intentionally removed (especially in duet narration)
  • Minor wording changes approved by the author or publisher
  • The manuscript being adapted specifically for audio rather than matching the eBook word for word
  • Approved line edits made after the final manuscript was finalized
  • Pronunciation decisions
  • Formatting or narration choices agreed upon by the production team
  • Any other intentional deviations from the manuscript

If you don't know all of these details yet, that's completely okay. Simply provide whatever information you have at this stage and you can always update me before I begin proofing if anything changes.

The form will also ask how detailed you'd like your proofing report to be.

Some clients prefer that I focus only on objective production errors such as misreads, omissions and audio issues, while others would also like me to note pacing, consistency concerns, repeated phrasing, awkward wording or anything else I notice that may improve the overall listener experience.Ā

The more information you can provide, the better I can tailor my proofing process and final report to your specific project.

šŸ’œ MY APPROACH

I'm naturally very detail-oriented and I genuinely enjoy this work.

I know how much time, money and heart goes into creating an audiobook, so I treat every project with a high level of care. I don't rush through audiobooks or simply listen in the background while taking a few notes. I stay fully engaged from beginning to end, carefully documenting everything I notice so you receive thoughtful, organized and actionable feedback.Ā

Before I flag an issue, I take the time to make sure I'm hearing it correctly. I'll pause, rewind and replay a section as many times as needed, and when something is unclear, I may also listen at different playback speeds to better determine exactly what was said. I don't want to report something as an error unless I feel confident in what I heard.Ā

On the rare occasion that something catches my attention but I can't confidently determine whether it's a true error or an intentional production choice, I'll include it in a separate section of my report for your review rather than presenting it as a confirmed error. This gives you, your narrator and your production team the opportunity to evaluate it together and decide whether any action is needed.Ā

My goal isn't just to point out errors. It's to help you deliver the highest-quality audiobook possible while making the correction process as organized, accurate and stress-free as I can.

šŸ—£ļøĀ FRENCH LANGUAGE EXPERTISE
As someone born and raised in Montreal, Canada, I'm fluent in both French and English, with French being my native language. Whether your audiobook includes Canadian French or French from France, I'm comfortable reviewing French dialogue, bilingual characters, names, places and pronunciation as part of the proofing process.

If your production team has established specific pronunciation or language preferences, I'll follow those decisions and help ensure they're applied consistently throughout the audiobook. Otherwise, if I notice French words, names or phrases that appear to be unintentionally mispronounced or used incorrectly, I'll flag them for your review.
šŸ“Œ A NOTE ABOUT AIĀ Ā

All work is completed personally by me.Ā

I do not use AI to review audiobooks, analyze manuscripts, generate proofing reports or create feedback. Your manuscript and audiobook files are never uploaded to AI tools for analysis.Ā

Every project is reviewed manually from start to finish using my own listening, reading and professional judgment to provide thoughtful, accurate and personalized feedback tailored specifically to your audiobook.

šŸ”’ CONFIDENTIALITY & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Your manuscript and audiobook files remain your intellectual property at all times.Ā

All materials shared with me are treated as strictly confidential and are used solely for the purpose of completing your project.Ā

If you require an NDA or confidentiality agreement, I'm happy to review and sign one provided by you, your publisher or your production team.

šŸ’³ INVESTMENT

Starting at $40 USD per finished hour

Minimum project fee: $150 USD

Every audiobook is different, so your final proofing rate will be based on the production style and complexity of your project. Straightforward projects start at $40 USD per finished hour, while duet, multi cast/full cast, heavily produced or immersive audiobooks may be quoted at a higher PFH rate to account for the additional time and level of detail involved in proofing them.

Elements such as multiple narrators, sound effects, music, overlapping audio, complex pronunciation or terminology, substantial foreign-language content, and projects requiring additional pronunciation research or verification may affect the final rate.

If your audiobook includes established pronunciation decisions, a pronunciation guide or other production notes, please provide them before proofing whenever possible. This allows me to review the audiobook against the pronunciation and creative decisions already established by your production team. If extensive pronunciation or terminology research is required as part of proofing, that additional scope will be discussed and included in your quote before the project begins.

Your proofing includes a complete manual review of the audiobook against the manuscript or recording script and a detailed, organized report of flagged findings. When a Google Doc or PDF is provided, a highlighted manuscript showing flagged locations can also be included.Ā

Each report includes the chapter number, manuscript page number, audio timestamp, narrator's name and a description of each flagged issue. For projects with multiple narrators, findings are color-coded by narrator to make pickups and corrections as organized and efficient as possible.

ā±ļø TURNAROUND TIME

Because I offer several audiobook services, my schedule can fill up quickly. If you have a release date or production deadline, I recommend reaching out as early as possible so there's enough time for proofing, pickups and any necessary revisions.Ā

Typical turnaround is 5-7 business days, depending on the length of the audiobook and my current workload.Ā

If my schedule allows, an expedited turnaround of 3 business days is available for an additional $150 USD.

šŸŽ§ OPTIONAL AUDIOBOOK CONTENT PULL ADD-ON

Since I'll already be listening to your entire audiobook during proofing, you can also add an Audiobook Content Pull to your project.

As I proof, I'll keep track of promotional moments from the actual audiobook performance and organize your selected moments with timestamps and other details you can use when creating content for your audiobook.

Content Pull packages start at $150 USD, with optional audio clips extraction and matching highlighted Kindle screenshots available as add-ons.Ā

You'll be able to learn more and select your preferred options later in this form.

šŸ“‚ FILE DELIVERY

To begin proofing, I'll need the edited audiobook files (not raw recordings) and the final manuscript or audiobook script that was used during recording whenever available.Ā

Every production team has its own workflow, so I'm happy to work with the file-sharing method that best fits your project. Whether you prefer Google Drive, Dropbox or another platform, we can discuss the details together before the project begins.Ā

Providing the final recording script helps ensure I'm proofing against the exact version that was narrated, especially if the audiobook script was intentionally adapted from the published eBook.Ā

Please note that this service does not include audio editing, mastering or pickups.Ā

I'm happy to work with indie authors, publishers, rights holders, narrators and production teams.

šŸ“… BOOKING PROCESS

Thank you for taking the time to complete this form!Ā

I'll review your inquiry and get back to you within 24-48 hours with my availability, a personalized quote based on the length of your audiobook and any additional information you've provided plus the next steps.Ā

If we're a good fit and you'd like to move forward, I'll guide you through the booking process and we'll discuss the best way to share your audiobook files and manuscript based on your preferred workflow.
