Steamboat Symphony Valued Volunteers Program (SSVVP)
The Steamboat Symphony Orchestra (SSO) hosts a variety of events throughout the year. From full-scale productions and fundraisers, to education weeks/weekends, summer concerts, and meet and greets! We are always in need of assistance and friendly volunteers!

Examples of tasks/duties:

(Light, medium, heavy level of physical output required.)

  • Assist with registration, welcome and raffle tables. (Light)

  • Greet guests and provide information, such as directions.  (Light)

  • Poster / postcard distribution around town. (Light)

  • Chaperone. E.g. events involving school students (Light)

  • Event set up, table settings & decor (Light to medium)

  • Assist with outreach booths at events such as the Farmer Market. (Light to medium)

  • Event set up, including set up and stacking of chairs. (Medium)

  • Standing for longer intervals to welcome guests or offer information. (Medium)

  • Assist with load in and load out days, including moving instruments and equipment in and out of a truck. (Heavy)

Are you comfortable volunteering at our education events, where school-age students are present?

Are you comfortable with greeting and interacting with guests? (e.g. issuing tickets, providing brief information and selling raffle tickets, etc.)

Are you able to perform “light” tasks such as setting tables and assisting with event decor? (Light lifting if required.)

Are you able to perform “heavier” tasks, such as assisting with load in/out of instruments and equipment to and from a truck? (Heavier lifting / pushing)
