A few things...
We are very excited to embark on our Third year! This event is the result of a partnership between SPORE Projects and the Benton Park Neighborhood Association (BPNA), a local non-profit entity. We believe that supporting the arts is important. We will once again support Blanket Fort Builders (non-advertising or vending), performers, workshop hosts, and roving musicians with small stipends! Stipends come from fundraising efforts and sponsorship donations. Amounts may vary year to year. Stipend allocated also depend on the number of participants and complexity of projects. If you choose to volunteer vs taking a stipend please mark this on your application. Choosing to volunteer puts more funds into the pool assuring that projects/folks who need it most receive it.
This event happens rain or shine. All tents/Blanket Forts should take this into account when preparing and designing spaces for this event. If inclement weather persists, workshops will move to the Cherokee Rec Center.
New this year is an artisan market! We have space for a limited number of quality vendors selling handmade goods, art, oddities, vintage, and antiques. Booth fee is only $35. Professional festival set-ups welcome. All set-ups should blend with the Blanket Fort vibe.
Note: Non-profit organizations and neighborhood businesses are welcome to build an interactive Blanket Fort or provide an activity. Booth advertising is welcome as stipends are reserved for non-advertising individual artists. All booths must have a Blanket Fort aesthetic. Apply as a Blanket Fort or Activity
