Raider Area Choir Booster Club Scholarship Application

The Raider Area Choir Booster Club is proud to present scholarships for voice lessons, support for choir fees, and limited scholarships for choir tours to deserving students enrolled in choir at Wylie East.  The following information describes the application process.  Questions may be directed to a WEHS Choral Director or the RACBC President.

Instructions

Students shall complete the attached application in its entirety.  Failure to complete all parts of the application process shall result in disqualification.  The scholarship application will contain student information (to be kept independent of the rest of the process), allows students to describe their history in the choral program, provides opportunities to describe financial need, and includes a short writing prompt.   

Awards

Student information will be kept confidential throughout the review process.  Applications will be referred to by number with the student name and identifying number kept by the RACBC Executive Board.  Applications and essays shall be reviewed by a combination of the choral directors, RACBC Executive Board, and when necessary, an outside party.  All applications meeting the application requirements shall be reviewed. Awards are limited and scholarships are “need” based.  Preference will be given in the following order: (1) students participating in the TMEA All-State Choir process, (2) students involved in other individual competitions/events (e.g., solo & ensemble, musical, pop show auditions, Out of the Blue, Blue Horizon, etc.), (3) students who have previously taken voice lessons, (4) leadership and service to the choir program, and (5) number of years enrolled in choir.

Scholarship Guidelines

Applicants must meet the following requirements: Students must be enrolled full-time at Wylie East. Students must be enrolled in choir for a minimum of one year.  This can include Wylie ISD junior high choir. Students must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. 

Students receiving scholarships for voice lessons must be prompt and prepared at lessons, pay lesson dues (if receiving a partial scholarship), participate in vocal recitals and either the TMEA All-State process or Solo & Ensemble Contest.

Students receiving scholarships for choir fees or tours must be prompt and prepared for classes, complete a service component to the choir program, and pay the portion of the remaining fees/payments as agreed upon by the scholarship agreement.
