Job Requirements:• Phone-banks • Support various aspects of campaigns and programs including but not limited to on/offline petition drives, letter- writing campaigns, legislative visits, phonebanks, door-to-door canvasses; and volunteer recruitment• Recruit, organize, and help develop community members and volunteers• Help coordinate carpools and drive community members, as needed, to events• Drive yourself to meetings and events around Michigan in a reliable car• Available weekends and evenings as well as some weekday hours
Qualifications:• Fluency or some proficiency in an Asian language preferred• Prior organizing experience, especially with APIA community, preferred• Lives or has organizing experience in Oakland, Washtenaw, or Wayne County• Great written and spoken communication skills• Likes meeting and talking with new people • Great on the phone with strangers• Good computer skills, including cloud • Good on social media• Self-starter and proactive• Good multi-tasker • Organized and manages time well• Doesn’t need multiple reminders • Has a reliable car • Figures out solutions to work problems • Culturally sensitive • Anti-oppression and social justice values• High ethical standards• Open to feedback, self-reflection, and evaluation
This is an entry-level position for up to 20 hours a week. Positions will begin in early October and are for one year with potential for extensions. Compensation: $15 per hour.
