Boogie Down Storytime on Zoom
Wednesdays at 3pm
Saturdays at 10am
Thank you for your interest in reading at Boogie Down Storytime!
Boogie Down Storytime is a weekly family read-aloud series that's held every Wednesday at 3pm and Saturday at 10am on Zoom (until we are able to return to our regular home at Mottley Kitchen in the South Bronx). Storytime brings together community members from the Bronx and beyond, and it’s a great opportunity for kids and families to connect and combat the isolation that many people are feeling during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. We appreciate your commitment to youth and community literacy, and we’re so excited that our young readers will hear from you.
Online Boogie Down Storytime features free interactive readings of new or class picture books. Attendees range in age from babies to adults. Anyone anywhere is welcome to join. Featured books and other titles are available for sale from our online store. Audience members are muted during the duration of the event except at strategic moments (singing, saying goodbye, etc.). Boogie Down Storytime is recorded, and photographs are taken for promotional purposes. All participants are able to opt out of being photographed and recorded.
Online Boogie Down Storytime readers must have their own copy of the book that they will read. If necessary, books are available for purchase and home delivery from our online store (boogiedownbooks.com
), but unfortunately we are unable to loan books to readers. Readers must also have their own tech set-up, including appropriate seating, background, wifi connection, and tech equipment (laptop, phone, tripod, headset, etc.). If possible, readers are encouraged to participate in an online Boogie Down Storytime at least once beforehand so they’ll know what to expect.
