Parents, please answer these questions on behalf of your swimmer(s).
If you have more than one swimmer, you can choose to answer separately for them below if your answers would be different.
1. What is your swimmer's name?
You are welcome to leave this blank if you wish.
2. What group is your child(ren) currently swimming with? *
Required
3. What are your child(ren)'s goals in swimming with the Whistler Sea Wolves? *
This question helps the club understand whether parents want their children to focus on recreational swimming or to pursue competitive swimming. Competitive swimming requires a higher time commitment and more intensive training, so knowing this will help with planning the club's training schedule and resource allocation.
4. What other sports or activities do your child(ren) participate in outside of swimming? *
Please list the other sports/activities your child(ren) participate in.
5. Did your child complete Swimmer 6 (or the equivalent if not in the Swim for Life program) before joining WSWSC?
*
Swimmer 6 is an advanced class for children aged 5 to 12 years, focusing on refined swimming techniques and endurance. In this class, children will practice stride entries and compact jumps into deep water. They will perform legs-only surface support for 45 seconds and swim underwater for 10 meters to recover an object. Skills include the eggbeater kick on the back for 15 meters and the scissor kick for 15 meters. Students will swim 50 meters of breaststroke and 100 meters each of front crawl and back crawl. The class features a head-up swim for 25 meters and interval training with 4 x 25 meters of breaststroke with 30-second rests. Sprints of breaststroke for 25 meters and a 300-meter workout are included to build endurance. WaterSmart® messages are incorporated to reinforce vital water safety practices.
6. Would your child(ren) be interested in doing more swimming practices?
*
This question helps the club understand if there’s a demand for more practice time and, if so, how much training athletes are willing to commit to. The answer will also help in scheduling practices and optimizing the use of available coaching resources.
7. If you answered Yes or Maybe to Question 6, please let us know how many hours per week you think would be appropriate
8. Has the time of the practice (morning and after school) impacted your child’s decision to attend more swimming practices?
*
10. Would your child(ren) be willing to travel to Squamish to practice with the Pirates swim club? *
Given that the club has limited resources, collaborating with nearby clubs like the Pirates may provide swimmers access to more training opportunities. This question checks whether the club’s members would be willing to travel for additional practices, which would help determine if such partnerships are viable.
Would you like to answer the survey separately for another swimmer? *
