Background
At the February 9 Fort Ord Reuse Authority (FORA) meeting, the FORA board voted 8 to 5 to support the Eastside Parkway “goals and objectives” and oppose evaluating other transportation and blight removal projects that might offer more significant economic benefits. Carmel Mayor Steve Dallas and Pacific Grove City Councilmember Cynthia Garfield, who represent their respective cities on FORA, voted in favor of the Parkway. FORA will have a 2nd vote on the Parkway at its March 9, 2:00 pm meeting. If we can convince the Carmel and PG City Councils that the Eastside Parkway isn’t in the best interests of their residents, their FORA representatives might change their votes at the March 9 meeting and defeat the Parkway.
