The Studio Project Application Middle School 2020
The Studio Project is FREE for local middle school students and is made possible by the Art Association of Jackson Hole (AAJH) and the National Museum of Wildlife Art (NMWA). This year's medium is PHOTOGRAPHY; cameras will be provided by the Art Association. Students will learn how the art of photography has evolved over hundreds of years to document history and tell stories. Students will examine historic photographs and equipment, experiment with film photography and contemporary photography methods. Studio explorations will include photographic concepts, composition, darkroom film development, printing techniques, instant film cameras, and cyanotype (sun paper) printing. Classes will be taught by Frances Ritchie, AAJH Youth Studio Manager, and Bronwyn Minton, AAJH Executive Director.
The Studio Project will meet at the Art Association for all classes except one, which will meet at the National Museum of Wildlife Art (date TBD). Students will need to arrange their own transportation to and from each session. Classes will be held on Thursdays, 6-7:30pm, from January 23 through March 5, 2020 with the exception of school holidays.
Final artworks will be displayed in a professional exhibit at the National Museum of Wildlife Art.
Only 10 students will be selected to participate so make your application count! Applications are due by Friday, January 6th at midnight. Late applications will be printed out and burned. Please do not make us do this!

What grade level are you?
What school do you attend?
Please answer the following questions thoughtfully: Choose the most inspiring work of art you have ever seen in your life, and let us know why you think it is so ridiculously awesome.
Why do you want to participate in The Studio Project? What do you hope to get out of the process?
The Studio Project is a time commitment! If you have 5 or more things already going on--a job, ski club, basketball, debate club, chess club, etc.--then TSP may not be for you! The Studio Project meets 7 times. How many of these sessions will you be able to attend? We prefer 100% attendance. *
