Please indicate the session you are requesting. Optimal time for C3 Session 1 and Session 2 is 2 hours, and 1 hour for skill building sessions. *

C3 Session 1: Learn the importance of compassionate communication and how it can help build connections needed to encourage student success. Explore signs of emotional distress, learn how to use empathic responses combined with motivational interviewing principles, and connect students to appropriate resources.

C3 Session 2: Build upon concepts learned in C3 Session 1. Explore change talk and emotional distress in more detail while practicing motivational interviewing conversations.

OARS Part 1 Open-ended Questions and Affirmations: Practice using the first two components of OARS to guide behavior change conversations.

OARS Part 2 Reflections and Summaries: Practice using the last two components of OARS to guide behavior change conversations.

The Four Principles of Motivational Interviewing: Learn the importance of the four principles of motivational interviewing and how to apply them to scenarios.

The Stages of Change: Explore DiClemente's Stages of Change model. Define each stage and how they influence behavior change.

Change Talk: Learn how to identify change talk, the difference between change and sustain talk, explore ambivalence when you encounter sustain talk, and practicing moving change talk into action.
