Wat gebeurt er wanneer kunst opnieuw een volwaardige plek krijgt binnen het beroeps- en technisch onderwijs? Met SLOOP DE MUREN zoeken Jong Gewei en HTISA (Hoger Technisch Instituut Sint-Antonius) voor het derde jaar op rij een antwoord op die vraag. Tijdens een intensief traject gingen leerlingen uit de B-stroom via theaterateliers op zoek naar hun eigen stem en manier van expressie.

Op vrijdag 5 juni delen de jongeren het resultaat van dit traject tijdens een publiek toonmoment in VIERNULVIER. Verwacht geen klassieke voorstelling, maar een levendige verzameling van verhalen, dromen, frustraties en toekomstbeelden, gemaakt door jongeren die binnen het huidige onderwijssysteem vaak te weinig artistieke ruimte krijgen.

What happens when art once again becomes a meaningful part of vocational and technical education? With SLOOP DE MUREN, Jong Gewei and HTISA (Higher Technical Institute Sint-Antonius) are searching for an answer to that question for the third year in a row. During an intensive artistic journey, students from the B-stream explored their own voices and forms of expression through theatre workshops.

On Friday, June 5, the students will share the outcome of this process during a public presentation at VIERNULVIER. Expect not a traditional performance, but a vivid collection of stories, dreams, frustrations, and visions of the future, created by young people who are too often denied artistic space within today’s educational system.
