CEP Interest Form Fall 2026
The Community Engagement Program offers students a way to meaningfully engage with a local Philadelphia organization and includes a reflection space every other week to consider the work and its impact. Students commit to volunteering once a week for the entire semester at one or more of our community partner organizations and attending civic engagement seminars to reflect on the work with others.

Kindly fill out the form below to express interest in volunteering with one of our community partner organizations. **Important note: Our community partners have not been confirmed for the Fall 2026 semester. Volunteers will be placed in each participating community partner based on community needs first.

Books Through Bars
Books through Bars sends free books to people who are incarcerated in the mid-east United States. Volunteers will read letters from folks that are incarcerated requesting books, search through our library of donated books for a good match, and package the books for mailing.

Moder Patshala
Moder Patshala supports Bangladeshi-American students and their families through education. Volunteers will help with tutoring and homework help (especially higher level science); SAT prep, grant-writing & program planning.

Currently seeking volunteers to support their after-school tutoring program!

Hours: 5-6:30pm; Monday - Thursday
Commitment: 1x/ week in person
Age/Grade Served: k-12
Subjects: Math, Reading, English, and other subjects.

Through mentorship and community initiatives, we break barriers and create vibrant communities where every young person, regardless of background, can excel.

VietLead serves the Vietnamese and Southeast Asian community in Philadelphia and South Jersey to create a vision and strategy for community self-determination, social justice, and cultural resilience. Volunteers will support the Philly Civic Empowerment team with phone banking, text banking, and canvassing.

Why Not Prosper
Why Not Prosper works to support formerly incarcerated women in their re-entry process. Volunteers could help with a variety of tasks including: researching WNP’s eligibility for different grants; volunteer applications; researching various online fundraising campaigns; and creating
and drafting newsletters.

Norris Square Neighborhood Project

Norris Square Neighborhood Project is a cultural hub that unites and inspires the nearby community through youth-focused leadership programs, six unique garden experiences, and other initiatives cultivating art and self-expression.

Currently seeking volunteers to tutor for their youth program "Semillas del Futuro".

Semillas is a youth leadership building program focusing on arts, Puerto Rican culture, entrepreneurship, and gardening. Our Semillas program youth get help with homework, coaching, college prep, and exposure to a range of art skills, and get paid a stipend based on achievement and commitment. It is a year-round program, with an emphasis on work readiness during the summer, as well as outdoor experiences such as photography, gardening, camping, and canoeing.

Hours: 3-4:30pm; Monday - Thursday 
Commitment: At least 1 hr/week in person. 
Age/Grade Served: 9-12
Subjects: American History, Math (Algebra 1 & 2), Precalculus, Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, Environmental studies, English comprehension and writing.

Petey Greene Program 

The Petey Greene Program supports the academic and career goals of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people through high-quality tutoring and other educational programs while serving to educate our volunteers and the public on the manifest injustice in our carceral system.

Currently seeking volunteers to support tutoring at the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center and Henry House, a "step down" Group Home site in Kensington. 

PJJSCS:
Operated by DHS, PJJSCS is Philadelphia's only juvenile detention center. Youth are held here at the request of the Courts while they wait for their cases to be heard. The PJJSC offers individual and group counseling, conflict resolution, life skills, and supervised outdoor recreation. The School District of Philadelphia has an on-site school (PJJSCS) so youth remain engaged with their education. PJJSCS provides middle to high school level coursework to all students housed in its facility. Any credits earned are transferable back to the student’s home school.

Our Tutoring Focus at this setting includes “Core Subject Classroom Push-In Support”- The PGP volunteers (3-6 total) will provide Teaching Assistance support to 3 classroom instructors during afternoon blocks for the first hour of their shift. Volunteer Teaching Assistants will support individual and group work with students identified by PJJSCS instructors and staff based on level of remedial need. The second hour, tutors will provide “study hall” style support outside of class.

Hours: 9-11am; Tuesday - Thursday
Commitment 2-4 hrs/week

Henry House placements will take place at a “Step Down” Group Home site in Kensington. Students here participate in math and literacy classes until their release plan is complete. Tutors will assist as Classroom Aides in Math and Literacy classes to provide floating assistance to students as needed. A Study Hall after school space will also be available for students. 

Hours:  8:30-10:30am
