formally request a meeting with building administration, teachers, and the gifted coordinator to discuss the possibility of your student being accelerated. Acceleration possibilities include: subject area(s), whole grade, or early admittance to Kindergarten.
The process when considering acceleration involves a referral, testing or additional testing, data collection, meeting with parents and teachers, and a transition period for the student to acclimate. At the conclusion of the transition period, it is determined if the student should continue the acceleration.
Windows for acceleration requests are as follows:
Window One: August-November for anticipated acceleration in Semester Two
Window Two: January-April for anticipated acceleration for the following school year
Window Three: April-May (For Early Entrance Kindergarten ONLY)
