Sundance Commons: Harvest Day in a Market Garden

We are pleased to announce another interactive and free drop-in style workshop this summer. Open to participants of all ages who face barriers to entry into agriculture.

Harvest Day in a Market Garden: During this Saturday August 23rd workshop, we will gather at our transit accessible Woodbine Racetrack Urban Farm. Cheyenne from Sundance Harvest will provide a tour, talk about the farm design and how we have a fusion of Sundance Commons programming and Sundance Harvest market gardening happening in the space.
The majority of our 2-hour workshop will be interactive as participants will follow the Farmer through a normal harvest day. Participants will learn how to harvest eggplants, peppers, tomatoes, cut-flowers, zucchini, herbs, greens, beans, sow microgreens and much more.

Participants will be able to take home farm veggies as well.

More about Sundance Commons

Sundance Commons is an agricultural non-profit that operates at five farm locations in southwestern Ontario.  We provide the tools, guidance, and access for new farmers who face barriers to entry in the agricultural sector and land access more broadly.
Sundance Commons envisions a regenerative and food-secure world where the equity and agency of farm workers is centred.

One of our core missions as a non-profit is to serve farmers, soon-to-be farmers and workshop participants who face barriers to entry in agriculture. This could be people who do not "own" land through wealth or inherited means, this could also be people who are/have been marginalized within agriculture. These are just two examples. With that being said, we prioritize space for participants who face barriers into entry in agriculture.
