Sink Your Shucks 2025 Oyster Restoration Events

Join the Sink Your Shucks oyster recycling program to help rebuild an oyster reef in St. Charles Bay!  

Dates: Saturday May 3rd and Saturday May 10th, 2025
Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm

Volunteers will work stations to bag recycled oyster shell then place them into the bay. Participants of all ages are welcome, but shell can be heavy and we will be near open water so close parental guidance is required. 

Volunteers should bring the following:
-  closed-toe shoes
-  SPF or dri-fit clothes that can get wet and dirty
-  sunscreen
-  hat
-  sunglasses
-  waders or wading booties (for the water portion, if you have them) 
-  refillable water bottle

Work gloves and shovels will be provided as well as drinks and snacks, but please bring a refillable water bottle if possible. 

Directions: When you arrive at the park, please stop by Headquarters to obtain your entrance permit and map (fees will be waived for any volunteer helping with the event). Visitors will be directed towards the pier with parking along the road. Two accessible parking spots are available at the pier. Please email sara.rock@tpwd.texas.gov for accessibility questions.
