Mass Readings Explained - Dr Brant Pitre
Catholic Watchmen runs a weekly video presentation and small group discussion in the Parish Hall to help parishioners prepare for Sunday Mass, particularly in understanding the Mass Readings.
Dr Brant Pitre, Professor of Sacred Scripture at the Augustine Institute, will provide an in-depth explanation of the Sunday’s Gospel reading, connecting it with the other readings and the responsorial psalm. He will cover the Jewish roots and cultural context, the spiritual meaning while also drawing from church history and the writings of the church fathers.
For those who are not part of any group or ministry that “breaks open the Word of God” each week, come join these weekly Wednesday sessions starting at 8pm in the Parish Hall. There will be a 30-minute video presentation followed by 30-minute small group discussion.
A study guide will be sent to participants ahead of each session. The transcript of the video presentation will be sent after the session.
