Grad 2024 - Cap and Gown AGAIN!
Seniors, apologies, but something went wrong with the link to Herff Jones and they cannot access your measurements previously submitted.  We have to ask you to do it AGAIN.

Please give us your measurements by Thursday, 4/25, so the appropriately sized gown will be ordered for you.

Graduation gowns are navy in color.  Valedictorians gowns are white in color.

GRADUATION will be Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 6:00 pm at Sylmar Charter High School Stadium.

Dear Parent/Guardian and Class of 2024 Senior,

LAUSD will no longer require students to purchase caps and gowns as a condition for participation in the graduation ceremony, an instructional activity.  The District will provide a "rental" caps and gowns, free of charge to high school graduating seniors for use during the graduation ceremony. However, seniors are able to purchase caps and gowns from the Student Store if desired.

You have been given the option to either purchase the cap and gown as a keepsake or receiving the District issued rental.  The rental caps and gowns are exactly the same as the purchased caps and gowns.

Rental Period and Return:  The rental period for the cap and gown will be June 6, 2024 to June 13, 2024.  The gowns must be returned starting June 12, 2024 in "good" condition (see below).  The caps and tassels do not have to be returned by the students, only the "rental" gown.  Failure to return the gown in acceptable condition means the graduate must pay for the gown before receiving their diploma.

Please read and select for each of the following for the graduating senior:

Acceptable Use Policy: *
All gowns rented for the graduation ceremony must be returned in "good" condition. California Education Code Section 48904 states that the parent/guardian of a minor is liable to the school district for all property loaned to a student  that is damaged or not returned as agreed.  In addition, the school district is authorized to withhold grades, diploma, and transcripts of a student until the student or the parent/guardian pays for the loss or damage of school property (gown). The school district will seek restitution when the school property has been damaged or lost.  Damage to the graduation gown may include but is not limited to a gown that has been cut, snagged, discolored or stained.  If a graduation gown is returned in "poor" condition, the student and/or parent/guardian will be responsible to submit payment in full to the Financial Manager in the Student Store.  There are no waivers or exceptions of the required fees for damaged gowns for any student.  Per LAUSD Policy, failure to return the rental gown or pay the necessary fees may prevent a student from receiving his/her transcripts/diploma (Ref-6486 Office of Curriculum, Instruction and School Support).
