2026 Independence Day Parade & Fireworks Extravaganza in Historic Kailua Village: SATURDAY, JULY 4, 2026 - 6:00 PM

RULES AND GUIDELINES

ASSEMBLY TIME AND PARADE ROUTE: All participants must check in by 5:00 PM to receive their parade number. Check-in locations are at the entrances to the gym and pool complex for A, B or C entries and Loloku Street/Kuakini Highway for D. See attached map.

Display your number on the first vehicle, on both lower corners of the windshield or on the side mirrors.

The parade will begin promptly at 6:00 PM. The route will follow the traditional path: starting on Kuakini Highway, continuing to Palani Road,then onto Ali‘i Drive, passing Coconut Grove Marketplace, and ending at Walua Road.

DIRECTIONS TO THE ASSEMBLY AREA: We recommend using Makala Boulevard to Kuakini Highway, heading south toward the gym. Parking for non-parade vehicles will be available behind the gym.

PARADE VEHICLE PARKING: All parade vehicles will be directed to their assigned staging section (A, B, C, or D) when they arrive. Larger trucks, floats, and trailers will stage along Loloku Street. Please refer to the attached map.

PLACEMENT IN PARADE: Your exact position in the parade lineup will be emailed to you during the week of the parade. Please follow volunteer directions when you arrive and stay in your assigned area.

VEHICLE ENTRY: If you are entering a vehicle, decorate your entries. We want everyone to enjoy themselves and show off their patriotic spirit.

ALL ENTRIES: Must be in good taste and suitable for an ‘ohana “family” entertainment event and venue.

WHILE IN THE PARADE: To permit the announcers to adequately describe each entry please maintain your distance of approximately four car lengths between entrants. Please show your kokua and do not crowd the entry in front of you.

HANDOUTS: Handing of candy to the crowd is permitted by walkers only. Note: children run into the street to get thrown candy. SAFETY FIRST.

THROWING OF CANDY OR ANY OBJECTS IS STRICTLY NOT PERMITTED. Distribution of gifts, merchandise, literature, handouts or political materials is not allowed. Squirt guns, silly string or other items potentially dangerous to spectators will not be allowed.

CHANGES IN YOUR ENTRY: Any changes to your entry prior to event day email must be submitted 48 hours before the scheduled start of parade to: paradesinkona@gmail.com. NO EXCEPTIONS.

END OF PARADE: The designated end of the parade route is at Walua Road where police officers will guide you off the parade route on to Walua Road.

DO NOT STOP to offload in front of Coconut Grove Marketplace as vehicles are not permitted to enter Coconut Grove Marketplace.

Entries are allowed to drop off on Ali’i Drive next to the parking lot in front of Huggos. Please pull to the right of roadway safely bringing your vehicle to a complete stop to offload. This is a safety concern. Then proceed directly to Walua Road.

ELIGIBILITY: The parade committee’s decision regarding all entrants, their eligibility and placement is final.
