As part of our vision to unite people of African descent for racial justice and migrant rights in order to achieve social, economic and political power, we hold our bi-annual Kinship Assembly which is known for its rich content and sense of kinship and camaraderie. Our 2016 conference will include compelling plenaries, breakout sessions on a variety of topics of interest to our various membership constituencies, relationship building opportunities and an empowering, uplifting and strengthening space.
Our 2016 theme, Black Love Beyond Borders, provides a global context of the struggle for Black liberation in the U.S. Since its founding, BIN has served as a connecting, healing and strategy leading space where we challenge the "borders" separating people of the African diaspora, be they language, country of origin, faith traditions or identity, to build and cross bridges and unite our kinship.
We invite individuals and organizations to submit presentations in line with the conference theme and more broadly with the BIN Mission of connecting, training and building towards policy and cultural shifts for a racial justice and migrant rights agenda. In crafting your presentation proposal, we encourage you to consider the needs and interests of our various membership constituencies, including advocacy organizations, grassroots leaders, service providers, clergy, academic faculty and directly impacted people.
