The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) approved MMEA as an official Professional Development Point (PDP) provider for the next three years! We are excited to build more value into your MMEA membership by offering PDPs for reading and reflecting on articles in the Massachusetts Music Educators Journal (MMEJ).
In order to successfully receive PDP's, DESE mandates that you MUST accumulate a minimum of 10 hours of professional development.
Directions:
- To receive one PDP, write a short reflection in this Google Form about how concepts from an MMEJ article have influenced your practice.
- To receive your 10-PDP bundle, you will need to write a minimum of ten reflections on ten different MMEJ articles using this Google Form. The deadline to enter your reflections is June 1st, 2025.
- You can receive 1 additional PDP for each additional article and reflection completed after you have earned ten professional development points.
- If you have participated in fewer than 10 hours of reading and reflections by June 1st, 2025, you will receive a certificate for "Professional Hours" which you can then use to bundle with other music-related PD that you attend in the future to make the 10-hour threshold required by DESE.
This form must be completed by June 1st, 2025. You will receive a signed digital PDP certificate to the email address you have designated below by June 30th, 2025.
A copy of your submission will be sent to the email address you designate below. You will receive an email with a link you can use to revisit the google form so that you can edit your previous submissions and add new ones throughout the school year!
Please note that not all journal articles qualify for professional development points. For example, District Updates, the President's Message, etc. will not count. The articles listed below will qualify.
