This survey has been created for my master thesis about video games localization and I would like to know what players think of their game's localization.

It is anonymous and open to anyone who have already played a video game and have a idea of what "localization" is.

Finally, my goal isn't to judge but to see what most people think, so be honest and don't hesitate to say what's on your mind.

Every conversations and names (of characters, things or places) are very close to the original as if it was translated word for word

The text and other features are heavily modified to adjust to the target audience to the point of changing more or less important things (names of places and characters, differents convos etc.)

How important is the localization of a game to you? *

I don't care at all

As long as there are no big typos or weird changes, I'm good

I check if there are any negative criticisms about a localization before buying a game

I try to look for comparisons between the official localization and a trustworthy fan translation to see how much the text has been changed

What makes a localization bad to you? *

Typos and mistranslations

Modifications of names (of characters, places etc.)

Entire conversations are changed (like a character speaking in a way that changes how they are perceived or a topic that is no longer the same)

Some features or conversations are modified or supressed for "woke" reasons

When things associated with a specific culture are supressed or replaced with something else (for example an onigiri in the original game replaced with a sandwich in the localized version)
