Act Justly | Justice Road Trip
We will be traveling to South Florida for a 3 stop road trip. We will begin at the ECHO sustainable farm in Ft. Meyers to learn about sustainability practices happening around the world. Then we will make our way to Miami to participate in the largest protest that the Coalition of Immokalee Workers has put together in Miami. And we will end our trip with working with some organizations in South Florida working with migrants and immigration justice We will be housed by various UMC Churches and Wesley foundations as well as hearing encouraging messages from leaders in social action in South Florida throughout the weekend.
We plan on leaving around 5am on Friday, October 25th and hope to return to Gainesville around 8pm Sunday October 27th.
The trip will cost $40 and will cover lodging, admissions to the ECHO farm and transportation. Meals that are not provided by sponsoring organizations will need to be covered by the individual. Fee can be paid in person (cash or check) or through venmo (@gatorwesley). We never want finances to be the reason that our students can't participate in these activities. If you need to set up a payment plan or apply for a scholarship, please contact us!
