The Online Undergraduate Resource Fair for the Advancement and Alliance of Marginalized Mathematicians (OURFA²M²) is a virtual conference for undergraduate mathematicians from marginalized backgrounds. You can check out our website at
https://www.ourfa2m2.org/ for more details!
Please tell us which community members you would like to hear from at OURFA²M² by filling out their name and contact details (if you have it) below! We strongly encourage you to use this as an opportunity to uplift members of the community who are newer to the profession or who come from a marginalized background or identity.
Self nominations are also welcome and encouraged! The form has explanations for the types of talks we're planning in case you do not know where someone may fit. The more information you can give about the speaker, especially why they are a good fit for the type of talk you nominate them for, the more likely we will be able to invite them based on your recommendation. That's especially true for people who don't have easy to find websites or CVs!
If you would like to nominate multiple speakers, fill out the form again for the additional speakers.
You can nominate speakers for any of the following events.
1. Plenary Talks: The invited speakers will hold advanced degrees in mathematics and will be actively involved in supporting marginalized mathematicians.
𝟐. Crash Courses: We will invite mathematicians with experience mentoring undergraduate research to provide brief overviews of fields of mathematics that are common in undergraduate research projects.
𝟑. Our Stories Panel: We plan to invite graduate students and recent PhD recipients in mathematics with diverse identities and backgrounds to speak about their undergraduate experience and how it informed the trajectory of their careers.
𝟒. Experiences Panel: Current and recent undergraduate students who have participated in a variety of summer/semester career-building programs will share their experiences and answer questions from the audience.
𝟓. Opportunities Panel: A group of representatives of various types of summer/semester programs will speak about their programs to help students understand the nature of the programs and their applications. These speakers will be senior members of their respective organizations.
6. Allyship Workshops: We will invite mathematicians who have experience with training faculty to understand and support students of underrepresented identities.
