🏀 Competition Description Miniball Gala Day🏀
Basketball NSW, in partnership with our local Ford Aussie Hoops, is excited to announce the inaugural 2026 Under 10 Ford Aussie Hoops Gala Day. This very first gala day will be held at BISC 🙌
The Gala Day has been designed to provide young players with the opportunity to experience basketball games in a fun, supportive and low pressure environment. For many participants, this will be their first opportunity to play games against other teams and enjoy a real game day atmosphere.
The event aims to support the development of 7, 8 and 9 year old players as they build confidence, develop their skills and prepare for a future transition into local junior competition.

The event is designed to give Aussie Hoopers the chance to experience basketball games in a fun, supportive and low pressure environment. For many kids, this is their first opportunity to play real games against other teams and experience real game day vibes.

The Gala Day will be held on Thursday 16 July at Ballina Indoor Sports Centre from 11:30am - 4:30pm.

👥 Coaching Culture & Support

Most of our coaches are parents who step up to give the kids in our community a chance to play and compete — and we’re grateful for that. We know coaching isn’t always easy.

We ask that you:

- Strive to support the development of each player and the team as a whole

Keep it fun

Thank you for putting your hand up to coach. We’re here to support you, please reach out if needed.

🏀 Competition Description North Coast Shield🏀
The aim of North Coast Shield is to provide every junior an opportunity to play competitive basketball in our regional area with an emphasis on player development. Participating associations are Ballina, Byron Bay, Tweed, Lismore, Yamba, Grafton & Valley.

The competition is played on one day - either a Saturday or Sunday over 4 weekends (plus a final weekend). The competition usually runs from September to November. A number of the rounds are expected to be held at BISC.

The competition consists of three divisions:
DIV1: Is the most competitive division and allows an unlimited number of NEJL/NJL representative players per team;
DIV2: Allows only 2 top-age representative NEJL/NJL on the court at any one time;
DIV3: No representative players are allowed to play in this division. It is for new to rep players only.

Shield serves as an excellent pathway for young players looking to experience a higher level of basketball. It caters for those already on the pathways, while providing opportunities for players and families to experience representative basketball without a major time or financial commitment.

👥 Coaching Culture & Support

Most of our coaches are parents who step up to give the kids in our community a chance to play and compete — and we’re grateful for that. We know coaching isn’t always easy. You're always learning, evolving your coaching style and getting to know your team with each training session and game.

We ask that you:

- Strive to support the development of each player and the team as a whole

Communicate openly with players and families where appropriate

- Ask for support if you're coaching your own child and need help navigating that space

Thank you for putting your hand up to coach. We’re here to support you, please reach out if needed.

JUNIOR PRAWN BOWL INFO

Dear Associations,

The Yamba Trawlers are excited to announce the return of the Yamba Prawn Bowl, with the carnival to be held on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August 2026.

The Prawn Bowl was a long-standing part of basketball in Yamba and, after a number of years away, we are thrilled to be bringing it back.

The carnival will be held at Raymond Laurie Sports Centre, Yamba, with games also to be played at Maclean Sports Centre if required.

The Yamba Prawn Bowl is intended to be a junior development carnival, aimed at giving players a fun and positive representative experience. There will be no division grading within age groups, with the focus instead on participation, development and good competition.

We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from associations wishing to nominate teams in the following age groups:

  • U9 Mixed (players born 2018, 2019 & 2020) – played on lowered hoops

  • U11 Boys and Girls (2016 & 2017)

  • U13 Boys and Girls (2014 & 2015)

  • U15 Boys and Girls (2012 & 2013)

The team nomination fee will be $450 per team.

To assist with officiating and game delivery, each team entered will be required to provide:

  • One accredited referee per team entered

  • Two scorebench volunteers per team

Referees will be paid $20 per game.

Please note:

  • Associations may nominate multiple teams in any division.

  • We anticipate divisions to fill quickly, so early EOIs are encouraged.

  • Formal nomination packs, draw information, payment details and competition rules will be sent to teams once EOIs close.

  • Depending on team numbers, some age groups may be capped.

Thank you!
Thank you for applying to be a coach and helping to build a positive culture where players can grow, develop their skills, and thrive both on and off the court.
