Description & Objectives:
SES’s Summer Theater Intensive will offer four weeks of acting and creation training that create spaces for BBIA high school students to build their social/emotional and theatrical skills through creative Project-Based Learning that gives them opportunities to share their stories, cultures, and perspectives by not only performing published work, but also developing and performing their own work. Students leave class each day with new artistic skills, a sense of identity, and a connection to their community. All students will be high schoolers –and we do not plan to vary activities by grades/age. Because of our Project-Based Learning approach, learning is student-driven and students create projects based on their current perspectives and development. Students will also have the opportunity to be mentored by professional theatre artists and will leave with the tools to pursue careers in theatre or careers with the multidisciplinary skills that theatre fosters.
Student stipend: $650
