Help Sunrise Movement re-elect Ed Markey!
Senator Ed Markey, climate champion and co-sponsor of the Green New Deal, is up for re-election this year. Sunrise hubs across Massachusetts are coming together with the Markey campaign to make sure Markey gets the support he needs to win, so he can continue to champion the Green New Deal in the Senate.
Our strategy for the first half of 2020 is focused on building a deep pool of activist volunteers statewide to ensure that Markey wins the nomination from the MA Democratic Party at this year's MA Democratic Nominating Convention on May 30th in Lowell. This means that we need as many delegates as possible on Markey's side at this convention. Here is how Sunrisers can help out, from the lowest level of commitment to the highest:
1) Attend your local town or ward caucus (mid-Feb to mid-March) and help flood the vote for the Markey slate of delegate candidates.
2) Apply as an add-on delegate. There are special spots reserved for youth (under 36), minority, disabled, and/or LGBTQ+ folks. You do not need to attend a caucus to run as a delegate (though priority is given to applicants who attend their local caucus). If selected, you will need to attend the Convention.
3) Run as a delegate for Markey at your local town or ward caucus. The Markey Campaign is building teams of delegates in every town and ward across the state who they will support and train fully, and you will also need to attend the Convention.
4) Be a caucus captain for your town or ward. Help the Markey Campaign recruit people to run for delegate, recruit other supporters to flood the caucuses with grassroots enthusiasm for Markey, and ensure that your community elects delegates who will nominate the author of the Green New Deal at the Convention on May 30.
If you are at all interested, fill out this form! You do not have to commit to anything here, and we will reach out with more information on everything you express an interest in!

To vote in a caucus or run as a delegate, you must be 16 years old by February 15th.
Are you registered to vote in Massachusetts?

You can check your voter registration here:
https://www.sec.state.ma.us/VoterRegistrationSearch/
If you are not registered to vote, you can still participate in the caucus process as long as you register before OR AT the caucus (we highly recommend before). Anyone who is 16 years old or older can (pre)register to vote in MA.

What town or city are you/will you be registered in?

If you are voting in a city, which ward?
Your voter registration information at
https://www.sec.state.ma.us/VoterRegistrationSearch/
lists the ward number. If you're not yet registered, you can generally find your ward map by searching "*city name* ward map" on Google. If this is still confusing, feel free to put your address and we can look up your ward for you, or just leave this blank and we'll contact you for more info.
How would you like to support our efforts to get Markey nominated at the Democratic Nominating Convention on May 30th?

Please check off everything you are interested in! This is not a firm commitment and we will reach out with more details. Also, carpools will be available to attend the convention.
