Over the past two years, the Teach to Lead® program out of the US Department of Education has initiated a national conversation on teacher leadership and helped teachers turn their ideas to improve teaching and learning into action. It is Teach to Lead’s mission to expand opportunities for teacher leadership by providing resources, facilitating stakeholder consultation, and encouraging professional collaborations to develop and amplify the work of teacher leaders.
The Maine Teacher Leadership Committee is excited to announce collaboration between the U.S. Department of Education, the Maine Department of Education, and University of Maine Farmington to host the first Maine Powered By Teach to Lead® Summit. Please consider joining us for this FREE event on August 16th, 2019 at University of Maine Farmington.
The summit is a unique opportunity for teams of teachers and administrators to develop a concrete plan to solve an identified problem/issue at their school as well as an opportunity to network with other Maine educators. This event offers time away from your district, allowing team members to delve deeply into the problem-solving process and providing a structure for developing specific action steps. All active Maine educators are welcome to submit ideas as individuals, but we strongly encourage you to bring a team of stakeholders (teachers and at least one school administrator) to make the best progress at the Summit. At least one member of your team MUST be a practicing classroom teacher and one an administrator.
As space is limited for this Summit, idea submissions will be reviewed by a team of education professionals, and invitations for participation, with registration details, will be emailed to those accepted. Please contact Chris Coleman if you have any questions: ccoleman@aos93.org
