Timer: Use a stopwatch to time the dogs during a search.
Judge's Steward: Greet and give competitors a brief explanation of the search as they approach the search area. Assist the judge in the search area as directed.
Gate Steward: Assist in managing the flow of dogs from the parking lot to the holding / search areas and back to parking.
Videographer: Video each competitor run for official records.
Note: As of March 7, 2020, NACSW will only require one person to act as videographer. Therefore, one person will video searches in one element and then move to the other element and video that element so the videographer will need to be able to do a lot of walking back and forth between elements. It is our plan to give one person the job for the morning elements and a second person the job for the afternoon elements. This person will most likely act as score runner if we are short volunteers.
Score Runner: Brings score sheets from search area to the score room. This job requires a good amount of walking.
Box Setter: Resets containers after each run. Requires a good amount of bending.
Score Room: Assist with checking score sheets and/or entering results into a computer. Also assists with other score room activities as directed.
Set Up: Assist in setting up first thing in the morning including setting up EZ ups, hanging signs, etc.
Clean Up: Assist with cleaning up the trial site at the end of the day including taking down EZ ups, signs, taking trash to dumpster, sweeping search areas and wiping down surfaces, etc.
Parking Lot (Number Flipper): Manages the competitor number station in the parking lot and makes sure competitors are queued-up and ready to go to their searches. This is a very important job to keep the flow of the searches on schedule.
While all volunteers are appreciated, we really would like to have full-day volunteers as well as 2-day volunteers. Thank You Again!
