This questionnaire is to gather information for planning purposes in connection with the "teach in" event we are planning for April 6-7 (Thursday evening through Friday mid-day) in Atlanta at the Atlanta History Center (AHC).
In addition to celebrating the good work of the present year, the main point of the event is to publicize the LSLdb and to recruit new participants as we emerge out of the pilot phase of the project. Our hope is to have the in-person participation our pilot partners and one or more of their students, who will:
1) share their experiences,
2) discuss the pedagogical devices and strategies you used to gather campus information and
add to the LSLdb, and
3) talk about the potential impact of the project and its importance on your campuses and beyond.
We plan to have a professional facilitator lead the teach-in session on Friday morning.
Thursday evening, the feature will be a dialogue between poet Natasha Trethewey and historian David Blight at the AHC. This will be a public event, valuable in and of itself to be sure, but also to draw public and non-academic attention to the project.
The questions that follow will help us plan and determine the funding structure. We expect to cover lodging and travel stipends for pilot participants who do not have other resources, and this questionnaire will assist us in estimating the costs entailed.
Thank you!
